The sparkling trail of over one million twinkling lights lights your way and illuminates heritage trees and buildings as you walk through the Gardens.
Fairy-tale meets fantasy in a world of singing trees, larger-than-life flora, ribbons of light, giant baubles, and a flickering Fire Garden. The end of the trail is rounded off with an amazing light show. The Palm House as leaps into life with a dazzling show of laser beams, jets of light and kaleidoscopic projections.
The photographs that I have taken this year reflect the diversity of the light trail. It is interesting that at certain points the queues slow as visitors take shots with their digital devices yet, at two points of the trail there is a difference. At the flames they take pictures quickly. I paused, used long exposures, and created light trails of the revolving Christmas trees creating something different.
At the end of the trail the large tower is lit with a pattern. When I shot it the moon obligingly shone through the clouds. The resulting image is the tower with a “blue moon” shining out alongside. Around two hundred people walked past me whilst I took this shot only three people stopped to take a photograph. They missed a great opportunity for a great photograph.
